Best Engagement
Dear children, young people, parents, staff and friends,
WE HAVE WINNED THE KENAKO AWARD 2017, in first place for best commitment in Germany. DAAAAANNNNNKEEE, presented by the district mayor of Mitte, together with a flight ticket to Africa – a country of our choice, sponsored by Brussels Airlines.
It was a great KeNaKo Africa Festival! 11 days on Alexanderplatz, we braved the rain and thunderstorms, the tram and the near-terrorist attacks with a police presence and had our best Africa Festival Berlin to date.
At this point, a big thank you to our boss Hervé Tcheumeleu, whose version gave us this great festival, a thousand thanks also to Antonia Reglin and Ronja, whose tireless organisational talent, commitment and friendliness helped bring this vision to life. And of course thanks to all the others who have helped through their faith and labour to make this festival what it is today. A place of intercultural dialogue and transcultural education at all levels, with a great fun factor 🙂
Global New Generation took care of the school classes again this year, during one week we offered different workshops by African speakers every day and carried them out with many Berlin schools and day-care centres. Around 500 children now know that Africa is a continent and that there is no language called African :)))) and of course they learnt so much more…..
Our performance on 18 June was also simply fantastic. The weather was very nice, the audience was great, the stage was big and the young and old actors were on top form! You can see the pictures here:
